Halloween Activities
This week, as you all have noticed, the children did a scary amount of writing. We wrote about Rapunzel, we wrote scary stories in Maltese, we wrote Witch Special Recipes. We worked really hard so we could enjoy a few treats, as you can see in the video below. Thank you for being so good this week. Happy Halloween!
Send me a Pumpkin!
In class we saw how we can send Halloween cards.

L-Ikkupjar
Xi kultant tiġi ġurnata 'hekk'.
Tmur ix-xogħol mimlija preparazzjoni u ottimiżmu u toħroġ imbikkma u bil-moral jitkaxkar warajk mal-art, u tibqa' hekk sa' filgħaxija.
Tieħux għat-tfal jgħidulek.
Wasalna fl-aħħar u kuljum ngħid lit-tfal biex jekk hemm xi ħaġa li ma fehmuhiex, jistaqsuni. Jekk nagħti xi xogħol fil-klassi u xi ħadd ma jifhimx, nibqa' nibqa' sakemm narah jaħdem dak li tajtu waħdu. B'xi mod jew ieħor dejjem jirnexxieli.
Dalgħodu nikkoreġi xi somom. Somma fuq pitazz ta' tifel vera tajjeb fil-matematika fiha żball. Ma jimpurtax, Miss, ħa mmur nerġa nagħmilha.
Nikkoreġi tlett pitazzi oħra. L-istess żball ripetut. Tlett darbiet.
Prietka kontra l-ikkupjar. Għax min jikkopja la jikber jitħallas bil-fotokopji tal-flus mhux flus ta' vera. Għax li tikkopja mhux irġulija. Għax jien imħallsa biex ngħallmek fejn ma tafx. Għax jekk għandek ix-xogħol lest u tajjeb, m'għandekx għalfejn tara ta' ħaddieħor.
Għax mhux importanti li jkollok kollox immarkat bil-very goods. Importanti dak li daħal ġo moħħok. Importanti l-isforz li qed tagħmel int.
Xi nofs tużżana pari għajnejn jidhru iddispjaċuti.
Moħħi mistrieħ li lezzjoni ħaduha.
Qabel ma niskulaw naqbad tlieta oħra jaqsmu t-tweġibiet tal-HW.
''Isa isa ikteb fifteen, twelve, ...''
Geddumi kieku seta jaħbat mal-art qas kont niġbru. Qas flaħt nitkellem u qas flaħt nagħti jew inwiegħed kastigi.
Naħseb id-diżappunt tiegħi kien kastig biżżejjed.
Forsi tant kemm qegħdin f'soċjeta' li kollox joħroġ malajr, lest, bla ħsieb u sforz ta' xejn li anke daħlet il-mentalita' fix-xogħol tal-iskola? Għad baqa' kburija bix-xogħol li nagħmlu aħna stess b'idejna? Kollox tal-microwave sar illum? Xi ħaġa li dejjem inħambaq fuqha u nipprova nagħti eżempju b'dak li nagħmel jien. Għax forsi tgħid l-eżempju ikaxkar ukoll.
Il-gost u l-pjaċir li titgħallem xi ħaġa, mingħajr xi stiker jew rigal meta tgħallimtu, is-sudisfazzjon tax-xogħol u l-ħidma. Għadu jeżisti?

Kitbiet tat-Tfal wara 'Figolla ta' Qattus' ta' Elizabeth Ebejer.
Bħalma ktibt fil-bloggata ta' qabel din, qabel ma spiċċajna għall-vaganzi tal-Għid, kellna żjara minn Elizabeth Ebejer, li kitbitilna storja vera ħelwa. Wara t-tfal ġew imħeġġa jiktbu l-istejjer qosra tagħhom.
Din hija l-istorja li qratilna Elizabeth.
FIGOLLA TA’ QATTUS
Iż-żaqżieqa tal-antiporta kien ritwal li kulħadd kien jafu hekk kif kont tidħol: “Wasalt jien!”
Ikun xi jkun iż-żmien dejjem ixxomm riħa ta’ ikel taqsam, merħba li tilqgħak mal-ewwel pass. Illum ir-riħa hi partikolari, riħa ta’ taħlita tal-intrita, tal-meraq tal-lumi u tal-larinġ u l-qxur tal-madonlina u ta’ ġelu. Il-ħsejjes iktar bdew jieħdu l-ħajja iktar ma bdejt noqrob lejn il-kċina… ir-radju fuq stazzjon lokali, il-ħoss taċ-ċikkulata banjumarija tbaqbaq fl-ilma, it-tfaqqiegħ u taħbit tal-bajd maż-żinġla u daqs tużżana tfajliet u nisa jgħidu tagħhom, kollha bi tbissima fuq wiċċhom u kulħadd fuq xogħlu. Min jiżen, min jagħġen, min iqatta’ l-karti u min jikteb u ħafna tinwiħ tal-qtates li kollha jridu sehemhom.
“Wasalt? Ġibtu miegħek id-dqiq u xtrajt biżżejjed bajd?” staqsiet Liz.
”Din is-sena li faddalt irnexxieli nixtri iktar dqiq u l-bajd li tatni Sylvana b’xejn, jiġifieri dawn b’xejn, u Pawlu tal-kantuniera tani l-larinġ u l-lumi mill-ġnien,” weġibtha.
Kien ritwal li bdejna ftit tas-snin ilu li t-tieni ġimgħa tar-Randan niltaqgħu għand kuġinti biex nagħmlu figolli forma ta’ qattus, bl-għan li matul il-lejl tal-Erbgħa tat-Tniebri nqassmuhom lil min kien fil-bżonn. Min kien jirċevihom ħadd ma kien jaf mingħand min. Is-sena l-oħra ssorprendejna mija u tnejn u għoxrin familja din is-sena qed noħolmu li nagħmlu iktar b’messaġġ miktub:
“Ma jaħrab xejn lill-għajn ta’ qattus... tbissem... purr…”
U dawn huma uħud mill-kitbiet tat-tfal. Hemm oħrajn għadhom ġejjin għax kien hemm min hu ma jiflaħx.
Fejn ma tarawx isem ħdejn il-kitba, għax *kumbinazzjoni* mhux kulħadd kiteb ismu fuq il-karta...għada nara ta' min huma u niktbilhom isimhom.
Dan il-qattus jismu Ginger. Jien inħobbu ħafna u nilgħab miegħu kuljum. Wara li niġi mill-iskola ntih jiekol u jixrob. Ommi u missieri jħobbuh u jieħdu ħsiebu miegħi -- Shams
Darba waħda mort wirja tal-karozzi u kien hemm ħafna karozzi sbieħ. L-aktar waħda li għoġbitni kienet BMW. Jien xtaqt immur dawra biha u għalhekk staqsejt lil sid il-karozza. Dan ħadni dawra biha. Kemm xtaqt li din id-dawra ma tispiċċa qatt! -- Nathan
Il-programm favorit tiegħi huwa Simpatiċi. Jien narah kull nhar t'Erbgħa. Dan il-programm għandu ħafna partijiet tad-daħk. Simpatiċi narah mal-familja tiegi u nagħmlu siegħa nidħku flimkien. Kemm jogħġobni u kemm indum nistenniha l-ġurnata tal-Erbgħa biex jibda. ---Jamie
Il-Mama' kienet qegħda fil-kċina tipreparali kejk għal għeluq snini. Jien inżilt isfel għax bdejt inxomm riħa tfuħ ħafna. Għedtilha 'Mama', ta' xiex qed tagħmlu l-kejk?' u hi weġbitni li kien taċ-ċikkulata bil-frawli. F'daqqa waħda ħabbat il-bieb u mort niftaħ. Sibt lil ħbieb tiegħi bir-rigali f'idejhom! X'sorpriża kbira tajtuni. Grazzi mama' u papa'! Inħobbkom ħafna! ---Oksana
Jien inħobb ngħin lin-nanna tagħmel il-figolli. In-nanna tħallili biċċa għaġina biex nogqħod nilgħab biha għax nistħajjilha qisha plastisin. Din is-sena għamilna ħafna forom differenti, iżda jien għażilt forma ta' farfett ---Maya
Darba waħda kien hemm qattus jismu Ġuġu. Kien imqareb ħafna. Iz-zija bagħtitilna figolla u l-qattus beda jgerrimha. Dal-qattus iħobb jiekol il-bajd tal-għid imma did-darba mhux ser jiehu talli gerrem il-figolla! --- Kim
Darba kien hemm qattus jismu Jack. Jack iħobb ħafna t-tonn. Beda jiekol u jiekol u tant sar oħxon li lanqas seta' jimxi. Sidu qallu biex jagħmel id-dieta u reġa' rqaq. In-nies baqgħu ċċassati. ---Kurt Sammut
Il-qattusa ħelwa u sabiħa jisimha tikka. Din tikka tħobb tilgħab bil-ballun. Jien u hi noqgħodu nilagħbu flimkien. Tikka hija qattusa kannella. Ftit ilu xtrajtilha pupu biex toqgħod tilgħab bih. Bil-lejl Tikka torqod ħdejja.---Kimberly
Darba kien hemm qattus jismu Rumpleteaser u ħuh jismu Mungojerrie. Ommhom u missierhom xtrawlhom bajda tal-Għid u kobba suf. Iż-żewġ qttates stiednu lil ħbieb biex jilagħbu. Il-bajda ta' Mungojerrie kienet forma ta' ġurdien u ta' Rumpleteaser kient forma ta' ġobna. Wara l-logħob qasmu l-bajd flimkien. ---Julia
Darba waħda kien hemm qattus fit-triq. Jien ġbartu u ħadtu d-dar. Darba minnhom morna kamp u l-qattus ħarabli. Fittixtu fuq li fittixtu imma bqajt ma sibtux ---Denzyl

Last Day of School before the Easter Holidays.
It was a fun day full of activity. How I wish all days to be like this!
In the morning we had a visit from a friend of ours and a writer, Elizabeth Ebejer. She loves writing short stories and she wrote one just for us. It was called 'Figolla ta' Qattus'. We loved it and we talked about creative writing and the process of making traditional figolli. I think both processes have many things in common, the preparation of ingredients, getting your ideas sorted out, following a process, testing the end result, fixing mistakes and sharing your work. Elizabeth gave us a handout with a 'cat figolla' on it and we're going to write our short story on it...so stay tuned, I'll put some stories here :)
Back in class, we had Maya's birthday cupcakes to share out. Those pirate candles are still holding up!
Then, being a Monday, the kids had Art and P.E. After break we finished our felt Easter chicks...well they're not perfect but they're 100% made by little hands.
That finished, here's a group photo of the fantastic 3.2 children holding up their cards and felt
And here's an all-talking-moving photo.
Happy Easter, wishing you lots and lots of blessings!

Juventus
Founded in 1897 as Sport Club Juventus by a group of young Torinese students,[3] among them, who was their first president, Eugenio Canfari, and his brother Enrico, author of the company's historical memory;[7][8][9] they are managed by the industrial Agnelli family since 1923, which constitutes the oldest sporting partnership in Italy, thus making Juventus the first professional club in the country.[10][11] Over time, the club has become a symbol of the nation's italianità ("Italianness"),[12][13][14] due to their tradition of success, some of which have had a significant impact in Italian society, especially in the 1930s and the first post-war decade;[15] and the ideological politics and socio-economic origin of the club's sympathisers.[16] This is reflected, among others, in the club's contribution to the national team, uninterrupted since the second half of the 1920s and recognised as one of the most influential in international football, having performed a decisive role in the World Cup triumphs of 1934, 1982 and 2006.[17][18] The club's fan base is larger than any other Italian football club and is one of the largest worldwide. Support for Juventus is widespread throughout the country and abroad, mainly in countries with a significant presence of Italian immigrants.[19][20]
Juventus is historically the most successful club in Italian football and one of the most laureated and important globally.[21][22][23] Overall, they have won fifty-six official titles on the national and international stage, more than any other Italian club: a record thirty league titles, a record nine Italian cups, a record six national super cups, and, with eleven titles in confederation and inter-confederation competitions (two Intercontinental Cups, two European Champion Clubs' Cup/UEFA Champions Leagues, one European Cup Winners' Cup, a record three UEFA Cups, one UEFA Intertoto Cup and two UEFA Super Cups) the club currently ranks fourth in Europe and eighth in the world with the most trophies won.[24]
In 1985, under the management of Giovanni Trapattoni, who led the Torinese team to thirteen official trophies in ten years until 1986, including six league titles and five international titles; Juventus became the first club in the history of European football to have won all three major competitions organised by the Union of European Football Associations: the European Champions' Cup, the (now-defunct) Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Cup (the first Italian and Southern European side to win thetournament).[25][26][27] After their triumph in the Intercontinental Cup the same year, the club also became the first in football history—and remains the only one at present—to have won all possible official continental competitions and the world title.[28][29][30] According to the all-time ranking published in 2009 by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics, an organisation recognised by FIFA, based on clubs' performance in international competitions, Juventus were Italy's best club and second in Europe of the 20th century.[23]

Pirate Adventures : Julian
Last week I asked the class to look up some information about any country. Julian is half-Russian so he took this project to heart, he got photos, printed information and told me a lot of things I didn't know about Russia. Since we're still in Pirate mode in class, we had to write a letter from one Pirate to another or write a story, telling about our adventures in the country we were in. We also have this in Unit 11 of our English language book, Way Ahead, different countries, habitats and places people come from. Children took different approaches to this. Some wrote, some typed.
Here is Julian's work, all done in class. I edited his photos so he could use them in his little story.
I will upload more as I get to correct the work.
Enjoy!
Well done, Julian! Harr!

Bħalissa qed nagħmlu l-verbi. Importanti li t-tfal ma jħalltux il-preżent mal-passat. Dan kollu jiġi bil-prattika meta jħaddmu Malti tajjeb. Skużawni ma tantx qed ikolli ċans intella' affarjiet fuq il-blogg, imma bħalissa ninsab mingħajr internet fil-klassi.
